Missions at FBC

First Baptist is a church that believes in Missions and Mission giving. The church established an Acts 1:8 strategy using 4 teams (Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and Ends of the Earth) to fulfill our worldwide witness. The Strategic Leadership Committee will nominate one captain per team to be elected by the church.

The team captains will have the authority to plan, budget, and disburse available money for the team projects. Any church member may join one or all four teams. The churches annual budget provides money for each team and additional money will be provided through an Acts 1:8 offering.

The Church promotes the following mission offerings:

  • Acts 1:8
  • Lottie Moon (IMB)
  • Annie Armstrong (NAMB)
  • Golden State (TBC)
  • The four team captains and the pastor will form an overall Acts 1:8 Missions Team to plan, coordinate, and implement the mission’s strategy of the First Baptist Church.

  • Jerusalem Team Captain: Lowe and Tiffany Finney
  • Judea Team Captain: Sue Reynolds
  • Samaria Team Captain:
  • Ends of the Earth Team Captain: Marlene Hix
  • Disaster Relief Team

First Baptist’s disaster relief was started as a result of the devastating Tornadoes’ that hit Jackson in 1999 and 2003. Our community experienced first hand the SBC Disaster relief teams Florida, Kentucky, and Arkansas and it got us thinking how we could get involved to help others. The Bible makes it very clear that we should love our neighbor. Disaster Relief is an effort to love our neighbors in a way they will never forget. Regardless of where we have gone to help people, we always hear the same thing, “I can not believe that you come all the way from Jackson to help me.” We are on call with the Tennessee Baptist Convention disaster Relief ministry and can be called at any time to help with other natural disasters.
