Congregational Singing

Congregational Singing

God’s people are a singing people and, therefore, the primary voice that sings at First Baptist Church is the voice of the congregation. We value the importance of congregational singing and seek to ensure in our worship practices that we as a church are singing together the truths of God’s Word and the praises of our Maker and Redeemer. To that end, we want all of God’s people to “join the everlasting song.”

Adult Choir

Adult Choir

The Adult Choir helps lead our congregational singing each Sunday morning, and they regularly sing a variety of anthems in worship as well. This choir is also involved in special programs throughout the year, especially during Christmas and Holy Week. All adults are welcomed to join the Adult Choir. Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00PM (childcare is provided).

The Praise Team is an auditioned ensemble that helps lead in congregational singing, both on Sunday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. The Praise Team rehearsals are Wednesdays from 5:30-6:00 PM.

Instrumental Ensemble

We are blessed at First Baptist Church to have gifted instrumentalists. Our Instrumental Ensemble leads in worship each Sunday morning. This ensemble is open to high school students and adults (sections include woodwinds, brass, strings, rhythm and percussion). Rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 8:15-8:45 AM.

Handbells

Handbells

The Handbell Ensemble helps lead in worship periodically during the fall, winter, and spring months. We have a five octave set of English handbells, manufactured by Schulmerich. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 4:30-5:15PM. Ability to read music is necessary and previous handbell experience is preferred.

Senior Adult Choir

Senior Adult Choir

The Senior Adult Choir is a daytime ministry choir which primarily ministers outside the walls of the church in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other churches. We sing familiar gospel songs, hymn settings, as well as other worshipful arrangements of music. All adults 60+ are invited to join the Senior Adult Choir, which meets Thursdays at 10:30AM.

Children's Choir

Children’s Choir

Our graded choir program seeks to develop in its participants a love for music, a joy in singing and playing instruments, and a desire to use their gifts to worship God and edify His church. Children’s Choir consists of activities that are developmentally appropriate and will be divided into different age groups (ages 3 and 4, Kindergarten and 1st grades, and 2nd-5th grades).

All children will learn to explore different aspects of music during 25 minute rotations that focus on proper singing techniques, rhythms, Orff methods, and hand chimes. The children will be given the opportunity to experience music as a holistic act of worship through the introduction of hymns, Scripture, and church traditions.

Children’s Choir meets on Sunday evenings at 5:00PM.
